Cindybugs (4): printing

When printing a construction, I always see only part of the drawing. Also, the output is positioned in an awkward way on the page. I tried both landscape and portrait settings on two different printers (laser and inkjet) under two different OS's (Win2K and Win98), with, alas, similar results.

When redirecting the output to a postscript printer, Cinderella crashes catastrophically.

It would be nice too, to be able to print only part of a construction, or to copy only part of a construction to the clipboard. It seems that choosing \Copy in the menu always copies the whole figure.

I will look into this; however, you can always use the PDF export and then print the resulting PDF file. There is also a setting for this, where you can choose the scale of the printout (in the inspector).

That's strange, and that should not happen. Cinderella uses the standard Java printing mechanisms. Which printer is that?

You can copy only parts of the construction, and if you copy them to a new construction then you can print this construction to achieve the desired result.

When printing in Cinderella, the printing dialog box always shows 9999 pages to be printed. I don't know if this error has anything to do with the present issue, but there may be a connection.

Perhaps I should have told you that I installed these postscript printers only as software printers. There's no physical device connected to the PS drivers. Still, Cinderella is the only application I know of that has difficulties printing to PS. I just checked again, just to make sure. I have here an Adobe PS printer driver, an HP Color Laserjet 4600 PS and what is listed as a Generic Postscript Printer (I forgot where that one came from). All three cause C. to crash. All Cinderella windows just close, without any warning or error message.

A little bit cumbersome perhaps, but useful as a workaround. I should have thought of this myself.

Dirk,

I filed a bugreport on this and we will try to fix it.
