Measuring lengths symbolically.

I would like to measure the lengths of some of my geometry elements, not relative to the grid, but relative to one of the other elements in my geometry. Is it going to be possible to have lengths displayed in functional form, instead of evalulated form at some point?

taoy,

you can do what you want already with version 2.0, using CindyScript. If you tell me exactly what you want to achieve, I can provide examples. You may also send a mail to bugs@cinderella.de with the description and a sample sketch.

I am wondering whether there is some scope to doing this via Mathematica. I noticed that the new beta for 2.1 appears to have some API functionality. If labels and text were updatable through the API, then I can imagine using cinderella for the geometric solver, and having the symbols managed via mathematic's functional knowhow. Is this a possibility?
