Some questions

Love your Cinderella software. Can you please help me with a few questions I have:

1 - Is there any help on using Visage?

2 - In your video demonstration you show 3D using Jreality. Is this integrated with Cinderella?

3 - I saw a great demonstration Bowline.cdy, forgot the source, so I just attach it. It uses scripts to create Bezier curves. As I would like to demonstrate some knots, what's the easiest way to go about this, e.g. can I use the GUI to set the points to construct the curves?

4 - In your documentation on Similarity (Transformation), your last image shows a button with an arrow labeled 'L on H' which maps the slider. You explain this with 'One then constructs the image of the sliding point under this map.' How exactly is this done?

(ps. not sure the attaching mechanism works on this forum, I did browse to the file, but doesn't seem to appear in the post)

There is only help in German at http://cermat.org/visage/ - if you cannot read it, maybe Google Translate or Babelfish can help.

We do have a plugin for Jreality integration. Please see https://github.com/reima/jRealityPlugin for more details and contact information.

Yes, you can use the GUI for setting the points to construct the curves and then create the actual knots using CindyScript. It's quite easy, even if you never did programming before. If you know any programming language, then it is über-easy.

If you create a transformation using the menu item, you will get this button you mention. In move mode you can click on the button, and all selected elements will be mapped by this transformation.

Yes, I cannot find it either - but actually the attaching mechanism should work. Just try again or send it via mail to bugs@cinderella.de !

All the best,
Ulli

Sorry, I still don't get it. I mapped the first 4 similarity transformations OK. I just can't see how you map that L slider to the H point, i.e. I can't get that 'L on H' box.

ok, can you tell me where I find the the documentation on Similarity you are talking about? I am not sure what exactly you are referring to... sorry.

It's in Cinderella's documentation folder
Documentation/doc.cinderella.de/tiki-cindydoc.php@page=Similarity.html
The diagram I'm referring to is located under the 'Similarities and Sliders' header.

Ah, great, that helps. The L on h button was created as an animation. Go to Animation mode, then click L and you will get this button for animating L on h.

Hope that helps,
Ulli

Thanks for being so patient with me Ulli. That indeed created the 'L on h' button. Now the problem is that pressing the animate button doesn't do anything. I just attach my file (hope it works this time), maybe you can see what I'm not doing.

(b.t.w. though the link to http://cermat.org/visage/ was working before, its server must be down since I haven't been able to connect to it)

Press the "play" button in the lower left - for me that works, well, sort of, as only L is moving and there is nothing else happening…

We had a network outage for some days, it should work again. Sorry for that!

Hi Ulli,
Yes, I understand that the play button needs to be pressed, and the slider moves, but I don't understand why the morphing is not happening.

(The font gradually gets smaller as more replies are added in this post, is that intentional?)

Thanks Ulli

Sorry, I forgot to answer this question... you are missing an important step: you have to map the point L using each of transformations you created. Do this by selecting L and then pressing a transformation button. Repeat with each transformation. You will get the four corners of the morphing shape.

I attach the complete construction!

All the best,
Ulli
