Unable to launch Cinderella on Mac OS X


I downloaded a trial copy of Cinderella on Mac OS X (PPC) but could not launch it.
I am trying to run it on PowerPC G5, Mac OS X 10.4.7. It does not work on a PowerBook G4 (Mac OS X 10.4.7) either.
But it does work on an eMac (Mac OS X 10.4.7)

The message I got are:
Fatal Application Error
Unable to Launch Java Application

Unable to locate the application's 'main' class. The class 'de.cinderella.Cindy' must be public and have a 'public static void main(String[])' method. (LAX)



The Application Exception Details are:

I saw someone posted similar problem on Versiontracker too.

pax,

I just tried it, and the version on the web runs without problems on my Cube G4 with OS X 10.4.7. Maybe there was a download problem? Was the version that works for you a separate download, or did you copy the application from the other machines? If it was a separate download, please try it again with a copy of the working version (or a fresh download).

If it still does not work we will have to find out what makes it fail on the other machines. Please send a mail to bugs@cinderella.de in that case, and I will take care of it.

Thanks for your quick response. I used the same download for every machine I tried. I even tried a fresh download just now. I still get the same error. I am sure I am not the only one getting this error because there is at least one person posting this kind of error message on VersionTracker?.

the bug report on versiontracker is different, the error message is that jdns cannot be found, and this was fixed indeed.

Your problem could be caused by having a different version of log4j on the machine. Do you have any other Java based software installed on the Powerbook or the G5 that is not installed on the eMac? Maybe some application that uses Apache Tomcat?

It might be the case that there is an alternate version of log4j in the /System/Library/Java/Extensions folder. Can you compare the contents of that folder on the different machines? Here is a listing of the folder on my machine:
